This weekend marked a significant milestone in Aviation history, the Gazelle helicopter came the ripe old age of 50.
To mark this event a small gathering of Gazelle helicopters, and ex Army Auster’s took place at the home of the AAC (Army Air Corps)at Middle Wallop, Hampshire.
As this was my first Aviation event of 2017, I decided along with a friend to go along and witness this historic event.
With the weather forecast being at it’s best so far this year it made it ideal to take some images, saying that the sun during the early part of the morning to lunchtime was directly in front of you, which made arrival of the Gazelles’ a bit tricky photographically. It wasn’t till lunchtime that we the public were allowed to go on to the airfield and photograph, as well as inspect the Helicopters and Auster’s at close quarter’s. We had approximately 3 hours to wander round and take as many photo’s as we want before we were ushered off the active airfield to allow the departure of the Gazelles ‘and Auster’s. With the light for the departures at its best, it made photography of the departures much more pleasing .
