RIAT 19 Pt-7 Top Honors.

Pt-7  We look at who took the top honors at this years Royal International Air Tattoo 19.

Every year a series of trophy’s are awarded to the  top aviators in there field during the 3 day Royal International Air Tattoo 2019 with the traditional Sunday night  prize giving party.
As a member of the public , I wasn’t privy enough to be allowed to attend such event, so what I decided to do is give you a list of winners and what trophy’s they one, and images of their aircraft.

No-1  The Paul Bowen Trophy for best solo jet display, in honour of the late Paul Bowen, co founder of the Air Tattoo went to Lt Col Yurii Bulavka, pilot of the Sukhoi SU-27P1M

No-2  The RAFCTE Trophy for best flying demonstration by an overseas participant went to the Italian Air Force’s Frecce Tricolori aerobatic team of 10 Aermacchi AT-339A jet trainers.

No-3  The Steadman Display Sword for best UK participant went to the Royal Air Force aerobatic team, the Red Arrows.

No-4  A double winner this year, The Sir Douglas Bader Trophy, in honour of the late Sir Douglas Bader for best Individual Flying Demonstration and the As the Crow Flies Trophy, best display  as judged by the enthusiast members of Friends of RIAT  went to Capt.  Arto Ukskoski of the Finnish Air Force Flying the McDonnell Douglas F/A-18C Hornet from Fighter Sqd 11

No-5  The King Hussain Memorial Trophy  for the best Individual Flying Demonstration  went to Maj Peter Fallen from F 7 wing of the Swedish Air Force, flying the Saab JAS Gripen.

No-6   The RAFCTE outstanding Contribution Award, presented by outgoing Air Tattoo CEO, Andy Armstrong went to a pair of Spanish Navy EAV-8Bs Harrier 11.

No-7  The best paint livery trophy was presented to the Eurofighter EF-2000 operated by Taktisches Luftwaffengeschwader 71 “Richthofen of the German Air Force.

No-8  The best civilian  award was presented to Team Huey with a  Bell UH-1H.

There you have it all the winners of the major awards at this years Royal International Air Tattoo 2019, for some enthusiasts it was the wrong decision , some you win and some you loose.
