Countryfile live North 17-8-19.

By | 21st August 2019

Early doors was the name of the game for a 3 hour trip to Castle Howard nr York for Countryfile live North 2019.
This was a new venue for the organisers and for the first time they decided to have 2 Countryfile live  events within 2 weeks of each other both were successful in their own right.

Arrived at the event at 0915hrs to be greeted with a large tailback of traffic, mind you it is a bit out of the way and access to the grounds of Castle Howard was along narrow country roads so it took me about a hour to get in and parked up, once parked up it was a short walking distance to the entrance to the event, no queues as such and was in within 5 minutes. They say first impression’s count and one thing I did notice was the folk of Yorkshire were kind, helpful, and welcoming to you, a good start to the day.

As a regular visitor to Countryfile live events, one thing I did notice with the Castle Howard event, how compact it was, a lot smaller than the Blenheim Palace event 2 weeks earlier, for me I find this more attractive and easier to get around, saying that the crowds on the Saturday were a lot smaller.
Photographically it was a joy to take images on the day, we had the main stage within walking distance to the exhibits which pleased a lot of visitors with walking issues, saying that the stage had big crowd’s when the Countryfile presenters were on. We had big top speakers ranging from Countryfile presenter Matt Baker talking about his life and his work with the BBC, look North Weather presenter, Keeley Donavon on exploits as a weather presenter and the most interested speaker was the current occupier  of Castle Howard, Nick Howard talking about the history of the house, that will be a visit next time I’m in the area.

There was plenty to do and see  and enjoy whilst I was there, I made the most of a visit to our RSPB stand whilst there, the staff on duty were kind and nice and a credit to the organisation, the stand itself was very professional and attracted many visitors, most of them walked away smiling. Will I go back next year, hopefully I will, this time I will make more of an effort to take a trip into the house, as from the outside it looked rather grand.

Next years Countryfile Live dates have been set.

August 6th-9th Countryfile Live North, a  return to Castle Howard.

August 20th-23rd sees Countryfile live south change venues to Windsor Great Park.
