After being cooped up for the last 3 months, I decided to get back to my photography and spend a morning at the fence in the company of the 48th Fighter Wing, at RAF Lakenheath.
Arrived shortly after 08-00 am, by then it was just starting to kick off with the sounds of engines starting up getting ready for the days missions. Armed with my Nikon DSLR and a 80-400 mm lens I headed towards the fence line to photograph the first waves of fighters taxing to the end of he runway. The F-15c Eagles from the 493rd FS, Fighter Sqd known as the Grim Reapers was the first to get airborne with 8 aircraft. Shortly after they disappeared to do their missions it was the turn of the F-15E model to start up and make their way to do their final checks before heading to the end of the runway. the E model Eagles came from the 492nd FS, nicknamed the Madhatters and the Bolars, the 494th FS known as the Panthers, both of these Sqds went out in mixed formations.
After a short while it was the return of the Grim Reapers, this time they flew straight in, hot pitted, then straight out again, busy morning for them. then after a while we saw the return of the E models some of the pilots did a couple of overshoots before landing.
Had a good morning at the heath, a few onlookers and photographers that were present were all good natured and kept there social distance.
